Black/Grey OEM Leather Steering wheel question
Hey everyone,
I'm about to buy the black and grey leather steering wheel that toyota offered as an option for the Scion Xb and Xd but I want to confirm that I have the correct part number and if it even fits the Yaris. I have the PN: 08460-12820 Can anyone confirm that this is the correct part number and if it will fit the Yaris? Thanks in advanced. |

That part number is correct and will fit the Yaris. You will have to remove the Audio controls (if they come with it), in order to mount your Yaris aribag.

Thanks Klink, your car's even the same colour as mine lol. Looks like it matches the silver center console perfectly

It does. One reason I haven't painted any pieces in there. By the way the swap took about 30 minutes. Remember to undo the negative battery terminal and let it sit for a few and check the DIY out real good so you know which wires to play with.

Thanks for the tips, I figured I'd have to disconnect the battery. Never swapped a steering wheel on a car with an airbag before so I'm not really looking forward to the swap lol.

Easy to do, took me 30 minutes but I have lots of tools and the correct ones needed. We used to have a DIY here with pics. Don't know what happened to it.

My cruise control DIY explains removing the airbag and the steering wheel:
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...ruise+diy+2011 And, here's a video I had put together on how to remove the clockspring. It is going a step farther than removing the wheel, but it does show how to remove it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgWSzVeILhc

Thanks for the tips everyone. I have the tools and such to do the job, just not used to working on modern cars with airbags as all of my project cars have been from the 80's. Does the airbag stay active after disconnected from the battery?

The airbag is a bomb that requires power to make it pop. once you pull the connector it is disarmed, but since it is an explosive charge, you should always handle it as such. The service manual says to always set one down with the mount down. That way if for some reason it goes off is won't launch.
