Exhaust tips on Yaris 2006-2009 Hatchback

Hi all,

I am thinking to put an exhaust tip on my car. Any recommendations? Of course I don't want to invest much money on it. I know that expensive = quality but I don't really mind if I have to change it in 2 years for example.
I want something small and stealthy. Like a factory look. Not something big and blatant.

So anyone with exhaust tips? Any photos?
Any eBay links?

I believe the 2nd and 3rd Gen Yaris have the same exhaust system and tailpipe, but not 100% sure. I picked up my stainless steel exhaust tip for a bit over $20. If you click on my garage, you can see how it looks in the pics of my Yaris. It's been on my car for 18-19 months and still looking brand new - but I'm not in a state/region where rust/salt is a problem. I just make sure to wax/polish it with the rest of my car every 3 months or so.

I put a S/S resonated muffler tip like this (Pilot Motorsport) on my '07 and '14. It actually fits better than the OEM Toyota tip and only cost about $10 at Walmart.

Exhaust tips

Does that Walmart tip make the car sound different?
I found one that looks like that imprinted "Pilot Motorsports"

The Walmart tip is imprinted Pilot Motorsport. Yes, with the resonated tip there is a minor change in exhaust tone.

In winter mode I run my stock exhaust which has a Walmart tip on it. Been there since 2008 and still shiny.

My car had a genuine Toyota exhaust trim dealer fitted when I bought it. Although it looked better than a bare pipe I noticed that, at idle, the end of the pipe vibrated quite alarmingly. What it was like above idling, I've no idea. As a precaution, and not knowing what affect this would eventually have on the rear hangers, I removed it. No vibration, so off it remains!

Interesting. But unfortunately I don't live in states so Walmart is not an option for me. My best bet is eBay or amazon. But I want something elegant. Not something big.

Wait what? Can an exhaust tip change the sound? Or I misunderstood?

The first thing checked was whether it was securely fastened, it was and they had used thread lock on the hex socket head fixings too. It was the actual exhaust tailpipe and trim piece vibrating.
Since then I have found that there is a specific dimension determining how far on to the pipe the trim locates. I wondered if, when fitted, this was ignored or whether it is in any way critical?
I've been meaning to refit it myself, use the Toyota specified location measurement and see what happens then!

A resonated tip can change the tone.

There are several on ebay.

That's a generic exhaust tip that's built for looks and won't change the tone. To change the tone you need a change something in the exhaust system like the muffler or resonator or the piping routing/diameter.
