Catch more fish with chicken livers!
I used to work in RCA and Camden, right across from Penns Landing in Philly. I used to bring my five-year-old son fishing in the Delaware river and we would catch catfish one after the other with chicken livers. I always wondered if they would work for trout and a trout stream. Or maybe bass bass. It was pretty impressive really. I would cast 50 yards out into the Delaware with a 4 ounce sinker and five seconds after the sinker hit the bottom boom catfish was on!
But if you put a chicken liver on a bear hug hook, it will just fall off when you cast it’s very fragile. The trick is to put a piece of number 24 bus wire around the hookk near the eye. Make it about 6 inches long. Put the liver on the hook a few times and wrap it in place with the bus wire. Now it won’t fall off. Well now you have the secret. It’s probably a good idea to wear rubber gloves like you would for changing your car is oil when handling chicken livers. They will stay in your hands bright orange and it will take a few weeks for it to wear off. Good luck!
