More Yaris diesels out here?

Hi for those who haven't seen me on this forum!

I'm Christian from the Netherlands and i live in the beautiful medieval city Breda

But this what you guys are interested in:

I have the Toyota Yaris 1.4 D-4d, 90 BHP with 190 Nm, that's 71,82 ft-lbs.
Maybe i'm going to let it chiptune but maybe i'll wait when TTE (ToyotaTeamEurope) has the original.

The turbodiesel Yaris is easy to drive, fuel economic and very quiet on the highway.
It uses 5L/ 100km, that's 47 MPG (US) with average speeds on the highway 80.8 MPH.
Now it uses 5.4L/ 100km, 43.5 MPG (US) but that's with my heavy foot and sometimes speeds up to 99 MPH always with airco on.
You have to remember that in the Netherlands there's always heavy traffic, no empty highways.

In Europe we only have the 1.0, 1.3 and 1.8 vvti engines and off course this 1.4 D-4d.
My former car, wich my boyfriend is driving with is the former Yaris with a 1.3 vvti engine. Because of the lesser weight it's pretty fast too.

But i've heard that the diesel Yaris can not be bought in the States.
Is there anyone one out here from anywhere in the world who also has the Yaris D-4d??
I just want to talk about how you experience the diesel Yaris, or if you have any question about it feel free to do that!

Here's my new Yaris, so i can prove that this the diesel

This my former (boyfriend's) Yaris:

And what do you think about the Toyota Avensis from boyfriends father?

From this Avensis there's a version here in Europe that's called D-4d D-cat.
It's a super clean 2.2 turbodiesel engine with 177 BHP and an impressive 400 Nm, 295 lb-ft! It's the most powerful 4 cylinder diesel engine!

I'm green with envy! The diesel has tons of torque too.

Thanks you guys.

The gas prizes are rising in the USA (Canada too?), do you see more diesels then?

It's sweet to have much torque with such a light little car. It feels like you have a much bigger engine and car. And it's nice that the car is small because there's not much space here in Holland

We Yanks tend to gravitate towards the hybrid cars. The Prius is so popular here. It suffers the same thing the diesels do, price vs. savings. If you sit down and crunch the numbers the extra cash you put out for a Prius is more than you'd save on gas. The extra money you normally spend on a diesel is the same way but at least with a diesel the engine should last forever and can take the miles.

Diesels kick ass, I'd love it if I could have gotten my 3 door as a diesel.

I'll have to double check, but I'm quite sure the diesel versions of many cars, at least in Europe, are cheaper than the equivalent petrol versions...

In Italy a diesel Yaris is more expensive than a petrol one.
The 1.0 petrol basic version costs €11.000
The 1.4 Diesel basic version costs € 13.000

and here petrol and diesel have almost the same price:

petrol € 1,30/litre
diesel € 1,19/litre

so if you buy a diesel car you cannot save money...!
But Italians love diesel....I don't know why!!!
maybe for diesel engine longer life!

In Italy there are a lot of diesel powered Yaris.
I don't like diesel.

The Avensis is a very big car but I think that Japaneses have more success with small cars.
Do you remember the Carina E?
