OK, so this didn't work out for me. Probably because I have a 3-door. LARGE HOLE ALERT:

That's pretty wild. Was the trim piece more than a vinyl sticker on the 3 door?

It's a substantial black plastic trim piece, with plastic "tabs" (2) and a long L strip that slides into that bottom opening. GEEEZ.

I'm going to make a nice CF cover for it, now that it's off.

That adhesive was a bear to remove. Nothing that I tried solvent-wise worked. Heat and rubbing was the key (and painfully so).

i had that feeling :) didn't want to try anything like brake fluid that might dissolve the paint. at this point i'll be happy to at least save time using a heat gun to get the vinyl off. were you able to get the bottoms without taking the belt molding off? thanks.

Yes - I was able to get them off completely. They barely tuck under the edge of the belt molding.

the heat gun removed the rest of the drivers door tape but left glue also. time for piano black pillar covers....lol. trying to remove 8 yr old glue is a bad idea.

I always felt the black always seemed to attract the slightest fingerprint or imperfections from various contact. I'm considering removing it.

They looked great when I first installed them, but after about 6 months they started to curl on the corners. Also, since the were real, very thin carbon fiber pieces they were ridiculously sharp on the edges, where I actually drew blood a couple of times while washing the car. So, I decided to remove them. The adhesive was supposed to be removable, but it turned out to really not be.

I tried heat and every adhesive remover out there to get the residue off of the OEM Vinyl pieces, but it wouldn't come off. So, I decided that the easiest way to rectify the situation would be to peel the OEM vinyl pieces and order a new set. After removing the vinyl pieces I stepped back and noticed that it actually looked pretty good without the black there, so I think I will go without them:

I know this is old...but those covers just come off and are only attached with 2 suded tape?

I have 2 door yaris and want to remove aswell.
