Stealership told me my water pump needed replacing, it was weeping. I told them I needed replacing then, as I have been weeping since my wife died...

Official: 40 MPG Highway

The 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback has just been officially rated 29/40 by the EPA.

Funny how all these new small cars, whether sub-compact or compact are landing at 40 MPG. Not 39. Not 41. :p

Yup, the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G with 155 horsepower and 6-speed auto.

Very impressive. More power than the competition, while beating or matching fuel efficiency.

13.1 high compression engine and with 6 speed auto trans. very nice vehicle with 4 wheel independent suspension. 16.1 compression 2.2 diesel will be out soon from Mazda 3. Speed3 is fun to drive but over power little bit with front wheel drive.

Mazda is a very competent car company and will give Toyota a run for its money if they continue to make cars with leaky water pumps.

What we need are iQ/Smart size cars that get 50+ mpg not diesels and hybrids.

The first car company to figure that out will make a lot of money.

But first consumers need to figure it out.

Very few want a micro car. There's no money in it for companies to build them. iQ and Smart barely sell. Even the Yaris is now barely selling. Everyone realizes you can get a regular gas compact that gets 40 MPG now so why buy a tiny car that doesn't do any better?

I agree.

I just read of a new study that discovered that hands free cell phones are about as dangerous when driving as a hand held phone.

In fact, the study found that any distraction from driving, including things like a radio or other gadgets/driving aids a can be dangerous.
Bottom line, you have to commit 100% to driving and not rely on gadgets. You are the driver, not a passenger.

BTW, as far as blind spots, many do not know how to adjust their drivers side mirror properly. This is a known problem.

Yes, just as dangerous. Lots of hotshots out there that keep doing it 'cuz they are smarter than anyone else. I've been driving for 60 years, radio in the car, never used. And no crashes, either. Face it, you are either driving the car or doing something else, make up your mind.

I agree.
Although, I do love my radio/audio.
However, I do turn it down whenever I need to concentrate 100% on any driving situation that warrants it.

I have not been driving quite as long as you but, I can tell you that my first car had a tube/valve radio.
