205 50r15 on stock steelies with Tein S springs?

Hey YW. I bought a set of blazzak ws 50s and am planning to mount them on my 07 sedan this winter.

Right now I'm lowered on tein s springs with 195 50r15s on the same steelies. There is absolutely zero rubbing which I'm super happy about. However I was wondering if you guys and girls would know if I'm likely to run into problems with the one size up tires for the winter time here in Massachusetts.

U will be fine I'm on 195 55 not stock rims but offset is only 3 mm off and I'm on tein too

Thanks. I figure rim offset is probably the biggest factor here. I think the stock steelie is like a 45mm offset, right? So I should be straight

Yup my offset is 42 now and all good I see no problem ur set up ...just maybe the 5 inch wide rim and 205 tire but still should be fine

I would get thinner tires for the winter though. 205's will drive like crap around here. (New England)

I was worried about them being too wide as well as too tall. I got them off of craigslist and they were just too good of a deal to pass up, so I figured id take a chance with them.

Just as long as I'm not at risk for the sidewalls popping off of the rims then I'm okay with it. I don't really drive spirited anyways. Low and slow for me lol

This. Traction in the winter is a function of pressure: larger contact patch = lower pressure = lower grip. Also, wider tires will plow much more, making it harder to go through drifts or un-plowed areas. I went about as skinny as possible for mine: 175/70R14 all around and have grip in almost any condition.

They won't pop off.. 205/50 is the pretty much the limit on a 15x5.5 wheel.

Since you got them used.. Mind checking what is the fabrication date?

Ok so I mounted the snows today and took them for a quick test drive. The rubbing was pretty bad. Also, they are actually 205/60r15s, NOT 205/50r15s, like I thought they were. Big difference and big mistake on my part.

Now Im going back to the drawing board and Im gonna buy a whole new set.

I know 195/60r15s work. But I want a little more clearance for snow build up and packing in the wheel well - especially since Im lowered. Im thinking 185/60s or 185/55s. What do you guys think?

175/65r15. Like seriously. That's Mini Cooper size and 3rd gen yaris size.

i agree 100% narrow is best for snow i ride on 175 65 14 snows and they work awesome and also im on Tein springs.

Well guys, I done goofed up again, I guess. After much deliberation this afternoon I went with 185/60r15 Blizzak Ws-70s from tire rack.

I know that it's only the stock tire size but it is actually a step down from the 195/60s that I've been running successfully after I dropped it with the Teins. 205/60s were just waaay too beefy. I rubbed quite a bit for a 1/2 mile ride and I even wore a small hole in my drivers side front liner. Ugh. Oh well at least now I know I'm getting new ones that will fit.

With stock size u will be fine and blizzaks are great not best in deep snow but ice and hwy driving I'm on winter force that are great in deep stuff ,suck on hwy and ice but we mainly get lots of deep snow here so all good...u will be quite happy with ur tires , think its little early for them wait a month mine go on 1st of Nov.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say they're going on a second set of steelies. Probably gonna wait until it's consistantly below 35 degrees F. So maybe late nov early dec. depends on when winter decides to hit us in New England.

Yeah the 14" did a great job when I had them on the echo.
I ran 195/60r15 for many years without issue at stock height.
I've been running 185/65r14 since last year. The Nordic tires did a great job overall.
