Seek OBDII reader w/ nice readout not wireless/smartphone/laptop

First want to check idle rpm before and after plug change. Then calibrate my ear when driving for RPM at speeds in gears of stock 2007 M/T car w/o tach. Then general curiosity for all parameters available on OBDII, and troubleshooting whatever.
(Suggest OBDII reader w/ nice readout not wireless/smartphone/laptop)

Not wireless with your phone forget it. Simplest is to get an OBD2 bluetooth ELM327 adapter about $20-30 USD then get the Torque Pro app for your phone or tablet. You can set it up with all the available sensors the car has available but...........don't expect to be able to make changes. Toyota ECU is not accesible to make any changes.

He's looking for a standalone plug in reader, not an app.

I have the ELM327 with the Torque app (paid but there is a free version).

Just saying it does a lot.....for a lot less.

The ScanGauge II is a nice option for an OBDII reader with gauge type functionality as well.

^This. I have one in my 09 LB, and the ability to display 4 readouts at the same time is terrific. It's velcro patched to the top of the steering column.
