Throwout Bearing not under powertrain????

I blame the drive by wire throttle response. I have my first auto in my Yaris and i can barely smoothly start moving with THAT. I hate to think what a manual would be like (am Im a 35 year manual driver)

Am I right guessing I was better off buying a post-facelift model?
Or shall I only blame it on the age?
The only issue I'm having up to now is a rear muffler that's begun to get louder recently.

What year is your Yaris bronsin? My 2012 SE is quite smooth throttle wise.

2009. Perhaps they smoothed it out since then? The wifes 05 Camry is the same.

I hate to resurrect a year-old thread, but....guess what!

This week I started hearing the same noise the bad throw-out bearing. I know the sound all too well unfortunately.

Exactly 1 month from when my warranty expired from the new clutch installed by Toyota in February 2015.

Monday night I'm paying a visit to their service dept to complain but I doubt it'll do any good. I've driven it less than 9000 miles and I don't do ANYTHING to cause premature wear on a clutch.

They aren't getting another $854.00+++ from me. Even if they decide to fix it with no charge I'm getting rid of this POS.

A car with barely 42K on it shouldn't have this problem.

Toyota Customer Service may help you. They refunded the price of an oil pressure sensor that failed out of warranty foe me. But not the labor.
It's painful for me to hear someone call their Yaris a POS but I guess you're right.

Chatting with some folks that are techs in a couple other groups I am in it seems there is a general consensus of the following in general:

There've been issues on a bunch of Toyotas with scoring on the input shaft sleeve that the bearing slides on, causing it to not slide back and get overworked. I wonder if they've checked that to see if it's sticking when replacing it?

Bronsin, last year I wrote 2 letters to Toyota (I was nice ) and I talked to them 2 or 3 times by phone and they wouldn't budge on giving me a refund of ANY of my money.

Well now Toyota will pay the price of having an unhappy customer telling her story to prospective buyers. I know I would not recommend a Toyota with a clutch given the throttle response of my drive by wire engine. Also the wifes 05 Camry has a similar problem.

Sounds like a case of extreme bad luck. Currently I have a 2006 Camry and 2006 Yaris, after my 2004 Echo hatchback got totalled. They are all running (or ran) perfectly smoothly. The Camry has well over 200k as did the Echo. Car reliability stats put these Toyotas right at the top, as do the mechanics I know. A master mechanic friend of mine even swears the 1.5 litre Echo/Yaris engine is one of the best engines to exist on this planet. I'm not sure I would quite go that far myself, but he's omone who knows what he's talking about.

The most recent made in USA Yaris is partly Mazda, and may not be as reliable according to some folks. I was always a total fan of big name European cars before - BMW, Audi, Saab had them all. The biggest issues I had were with a BMW 528i that cost me thousands in ignition/ECU problems.

Last night I traded her in. I felt like I was losing a good friend who'd let me down. It was years since I'd felt this way about a car, my other one being my old Honda CRX which I kept for 9 trouble-free years. I loved my Yaris almost as much as my CRX, but I'd hate possibly replacing the clutch every year.

I decided on a brand-new, but leftover, 2015 Nissan Versa SV. A complete turnaround from my tiny Yaris. It has only 67 miles on it. And it has the CVT transmission.

I originally wanted a Juke, but they were priced too high out of my budget, I could have afforded a lease but I like to buy my cars. Plus the Juke was hard to see out of over those buggy-eyed lights that stick out of the hood, plus the back visibility to the right rear was horrible.

Sorry to hear you had that much trouble with your clutch. My vader helmet is coming up on 9 yrs old with 65k on it and I just replaced the water pump, drive belt and a leaking axle seal. Haven't had any real trouble outside of that. I did have to replace the rack and pinion at around 40k, but my car was backed into by a friend, which is what I think the root cause of that issue was.

In time to come you'll probably be glad you didn't buy the Juke. Here in Canada, it was voted last year, as being the ugliest car on the road.
