rubber inserts
Just purchased a 2009 silver Yaris sedan with only 9 miles on it. Options include: automatic, power package and fog lights for $14,452 (out-the-door). I found 2 rubber inserts in a clear plastic bag located inside the glovebox. Does anyone know where these things go???

A pic would be handy,do these rubber plugs look like drain plugs for the floor pan? or door plugs that were taken out to install power windows?

They rubber plugs are approx 1 ½ inches by a ½ inch wide. The instructions on the plastic bag say “to pre-delivery inspector. Insert these rubber plugs into the holes of the center floor side member extensions.”

Uh-oh. Those plugs were supposed to be inserted to prevent your Toyota quality from leaking out.

Your dealer should have put them in appropriate areas that have holes that need to be plugged. There was a lot of posting done on this but not sure of name of topic. Take back to dealer and have him insert them.

Yes, those are the floor drain plugs that get popped in under the carpet. They should have been installed during the pre-delivery check. I have had a couple of Yaris as rental cars and each one has had them sitting in the glove box. I guess that shows how well the dealers do the pre-delivery inspection. If they are not installed, water from the road can splash up and soak into the carpet.

I love momentum.

Can someone post a pic of these? And maybe a pic of the underside of the car with them installed?

Looking under my car there are two sets of drain plugs, both of which are simply popped in from underneath (i.e. no carpet pull is required). Here are pics of both: |

They go underneath the car. Get on the ground and look in front of both rear tires. You should see an empty hole(1 on each side). Put the plugs in the holes.

I found the same rubber plugs in the glove box of the used 08 I bought. Now I know where they go. Thanks!
It does make you wonder what else they skipped on the pre-delivery inspection... |
