205/50r16 how to lower without rub?? - Toyota Yaris Forums

well i have 16x7 42 offset, with 205/50r16 and the last lowering kit i had on it it rubbed going strait lol, well i want to lower it and have minimal rubbing, ive seen various kits from springs to coil-overs, to bags.. im just not sure what is best for me..

im running that tire size on a lower offset wheel and I don't rub. remove your fender liners. if that doesn't work, roll the fenders too.

get coilovers. garm over at microimageonline.com sells them for great prices, and between him and Jeff, you'll get what you need at your door extremely fast.

I called Jeff not quite sure what i needed and he got me set up perfectly.

You really shouldn't be rubbing with that size, but could always go to 195/50/16 tires, or add camber, etc. The method you lower with shouldn't effect rubbing unless you're only rubbing on dips and going to a stiffer suspension.

I ran 16x7, 195/50/16, +32, dropped 1.5" and rubbed until I added some off-the-shelf washers for camber.

I am assuming that your rub is occuring in the rear. Correct?

Currently running RPF1's with a +43 offset and 205/50/16 General Exclaims. No rub and can go lower by about a 1/2 inch. Veh. lowered with the TRD Sportivo package. Ck my garage for pics. Hope that helps in the decision making process.

I ran 205/50/16 on 16x7 (+37) lowered on coilovers and I rubbed all the time. If I were to do it again, I'd go with the above-mentioned 195/50/16 tires.

A little rub here and there isn't bad; I had to get that through my head because I've found if you're lowered and have anything wider than the stock wheels, it's going to rub a bit.

TRD's work great with 205/50/16 on 16x7, ET42.

no the rubbing was up front.. i was on clipped springs and only about an inch of the ground, so maybe that was my problem, couldnt even drive over a speedbump.

im thinking of picking up a set of trd springs, i already have tociko blues still on there, i had to but the stock springs back on because of a wreck i got in, insurance doesnt like modified cars lol

That's EXACTLY why you were rubbing - cut springs. Springs are not meant to be cut.
Buy aftermarket ones that already have a drop you want and you should be good.
MicroImage just brought in a bunch. Check them out, too.

^ +1 That was it for sure, plus the "inch off the ground" part.

Our springs are good and stiff and that helps, but I would say that Teins drop you just a little bit more.

CaliYaris im gunna have to get a set of your springs on my next payday so hopefully in 2 weeks ill be dropped again!
