Audiophiles-Need your .02

Hey guys,

I have a Pioneer Avic D_Series deck and ever since I installed it about 4-5 months ago, I've had a strange issue with it.

My amp and sub work just fine when I am playing the radio, but when I switch to my Ipod, either through the IPOD connector or the AUX jack, and even from CD's, the amp and sub don't operate at all! I figure it has something to do with the way I wired it, but I'm not sure where to start.

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks in advance!

Just so I'm straight with what you're saying...

When you change the input and use the AUX/I-pod and occasionally when you put a CD in, the (sub) amplifier turns off?

Of course the first thing I'm thinking is a head ground point but there's probably another issue...it is a Pioneer. What year was it manufactured?

Thanks for the feedback...The door speakers still function when the aux cable is used, but not the sub which is only connected to the amp. The door speakers are running from the head unit, which is less than 2 years old.

It's really got me scratching my head.

does the sub amp turn off.... can you see the power light turn off, or does it stay on?

If the light turns off.... are you using LOC's/High level inputs into your amp, or RCA's?

If the light stays on..... put your hand on the sub when playing bass heavy music and make sure you don't feel any vibrations.... there is a big difference between sub not playing, and playing very quietly.

Do you have induced noise? Especially when the dome light turns off?

Sounds like you are using the power antenna turn on (blue wire) to turn on the amps instead of the amp turn on wire(blue with white stripe). When you switch sources from tuner the blue wire stops supplying 12v while the amp turn on wire supplies 12v all the time.

Thanks for the tips...I'll pull the deck and see if that works.
