whats the best AIR FILTER?
i know we talk about intakes and all but i cant seem to see any actual air filter discussion.
1. k and N 2. Amsoil synthec filter 3. aftermarket ones 4 aem. i have ran into high flow filter give engine more air but doesnt filter it well with small dust particles.. oem restricts airflow but filters well.. can we get both worlds . anyone actually got info on most flow and best filtration! |

K&Ns are oiled and actually work better the more they are used. I prefer them anyways. I've used drop-ins and one of the universal cylinder types on my SRI on the LeBaron I had. I have a AEM filter that came with the intake for my Yaris, but when it needs replacing I think the oiled route is better. Again, my opinion.

i wanna think of it as a myth but even K n N suggested to just use "air sensor cleaner to fix the problem" which mean it can cause problem..

You really have over oil for that to happen. You really have to follow the instruction on the K&N refill kit. And if your maf gets dirty just by some electronic cleaner, it's cheaper and costs less then to K&N cleaner.

i guess we cant have it both ways.. high flow more air in less filtering..makes sense..its just the matter of the engine burning some of the pollutants thats missed by the filter...*sigh*

I've always used the stainless steel mesh filters and always got the best performance on every vehicle I have ever put them on. Turbo, Supercharged or N/A, 4cyl, 6cyl or 8cyl, always got the best performance and the happiest customers.

Stock is OK. K&N is also OK. All others designed for the Yaris would be OK.
Your wants and your wallet would dictate your decision. What your Yaris needs, is an air filter.

I've always used K&N. They've been in business for years and are a trusted name in the industry.

i like the Amsoil synthec filter i got it for my dad's car and it works well he uses half a tank from montreal to toronto in his implala. K&N i had trouble with it when i cleaned it too much oil. for me it was hard to put the right amount of oil on it. when and if amsoil make one for the yaris i'll get one. If not maybe there an american car with the same size filter like the yaris. Haven't had the time to check it out. but in the end it up to you.
