chip in windshield

so when I was driving to work today I was behind a big SUV/truck with big shitass tires on it, anyways it kicked a stone on my yaris' windshield that left a noticeable crack (too deep to be buffed out). I do have geico comprehensive insurance with a $50 deductible. I went to the autoglass specialist website and it said something like, a lot of times the insurance company will waive the deductible if you get the windshield fixed (I guess they're worried a cracked windshield could eventually cause a much more serious and expensive accident). My question is: have any of you gotten your windshield replaced and was the deductible waived (as I am cheap and really want to save $50)?

Thanks,

Dee
