I reckon the yaris would look awesome with a WRX hood scoop.
if you've ever seen under the hood of a WRX it looks nothing like that ;)

hoods are cheap.. i say do the V-mount design that thejesta posted, and chop that hood open :D

This is the TRD TMIC for the 1NZ on the first gen Yaris TS.

It doesn't even use an hood scoop. I has like a plastic device attached under the hood that takes the air from the front grill and channels it to the IC.

also the original design looks like it might hit with an after market Intake Mani. That is if its a log design. Id say go with my design and give me a free turbo kit.

I'm thinking that the original would be better due to the fact that it's direct ram air in the front dam as opposed to collecting some engine heat from inside the engine bay (hence why most top mount cars tend to get a front mount later on when modifying).

Unless they want to offer a stage one with a top mount and a stage two with the front mount.

well, the original is what he's MAKING, as far as I know -- I think he's done with designing it and laying it out. Maybe the OP can confirm.

one of the guys who bought the intake from trickie dickie should loan it to this guy to do a fitment test and a dyno run. And of course they should get a nice discount for the loan out

I'm glad someone have the balls to build one, but I ever overcome my women "you ain't touching this one !!" rule, I would use a Garrett unit and nothing else, they are more expensive but well worth the extra money, but that's me.
As far as fuel management, the e-throttle is the big headache, I'm not aware how hard it is to reflash this ECU and if someone have the BIN files extracted and decoded yet !?
Sure thing a RRFPR could do the job up to 4 to 6 PSI, but would trigger the CEL for sure.

No one has been able to reflash this ECU yet --- go for it.

Garrett FTW, agreed.
