Toyota Yaris 2002 ABS and ! Light

My Toyota Yaris has THE ABS light and handbrake light at the same time, it has 115,000 miles on the clock and is due for an MOT and I know it will fail, What is the reason for both light showing simultaneously and which parts would I need.

This is actually a common issue with MK2 Yaris here in parts of the US and Canada where salt is used on the roads. Take a look a the thread below, where many discuss their woes with the ABS sensors (particularly the rears on the MK2) suffer from connector corrosion from the salt:

I've skimmed through the thread a little, is it best cleaning the front 2 sensors if error still occurs then replace the 2 hubs sensors on the rear?

Since you said it's a common problem with the MK2 then I'm thinking this yaris may be no good.

Like the link that CTScott alluded to, due to the poor design of the ABS sensors on the Yaris they constantly need to be checked/cleaned to keep them corrosion free.

Every spring I disconnect my ABS sensors and spray them with a electrical cleanr and once dry I cover them in dielectric grease. I live in the salt belt and have yet to have any ABS issues. When I checked my sensors for the first time a couple years ago I was surprised that the sensors weren't that dirty.

I would try cleaning yours with an electrical cleaner and maybe even a fine bristled toothbrush if they are bad enough. Then reconnect after adding a bunch of dielectric grease. Reset the ECU and see if the code comes back on. If it does then you'll likely need new hub/sensors and even an ABS electrical connector
