san antonio raceway 3jan09

It was a mini yaris meet at the san antonio raceway today.

this timeslip was from the time trial
my time was on the left. 10.998 in the 1/8th mile.
my scan gauge said i shifted at 6127rpm [at least once anyway.]
when i lost in first round i noticed max rpm at 5500 and was .5 seconds slower.

The guy on the right was in a hemi dodge crew cab and he was taking it waaaay too seriously. He had his girlfriend spraying his rear tires for 5 minutes with some sort of traction juice. When the light turned green he bogged it. he later ran a 10.5 and eliminated me because i had a crap response time of .665 on the second pass and he cut a .159 . hemi dodge boy was eliminated in the second round [third pass].

My nearly 70 yr old friend would have won his way into the third round but red lighted. he was running 10.70 in a 4.8l ls1 chevy shortbed.

The mini yaris meet part-- Father /Son both yaris owners from corpus christi were there. sorry i forgot your names.. I'll have to look up the tachometer thread because i could have used one. the dad ran 11.7 at the time trial and dialed in an 11 for the first round but i didn't see what happend.

vital statistics:
my yaris is mostly stock. k&n drop in, 9.5lb enkei rpf1's, NST pulleys, rear seat back removed, spare tire removed. 3/4ths tank of gas, 35lbs of air in the tires, 575 feet above sealevel, on a nice 75 degree texas day..

Of all the folks racing today I'll bet me and the corpus christi dudes were the only ones getting 38.7 mpg on the way home...

28 Sat. MIDNIGHT MADNESS

you know where it is? around exit 595 on I-10 6 miles from Seguin.
usually just $15 to test and tune. or maybe it went up to 20 . for that you can get in 4-6 passes in if you are lucky. I usualy get about 3 runs in and thats enough to feel what my bike or car can do. racing is mental so if you get a bunch of passes in you get good experience with the light tree and launching.

I've been there with my Kawasaki Concours 13.99, my kawasaki z750 12.79 and my yaris 10.99. yaris 1/8th mile, others 1/4th. yeah i'm slow on the bikes but i have no desire to wear them out before i get to travel a bit on them..
need to take the Colorado next. maybe on the 21st- its truck and suv day.
they usually have an import shootout a couple times in the summer. you'll see a bunch of civics, integras, eclipses, and sentra-SERs.

i see S.A.R. has a message board with a toyota subsection but it doesn't have any posts in it.

I saw a twin turbo nitrousd supra there one night. the guy was testing his set up. I couldn't believe how serious that thing was. he shut it down at the 1/8th mile marker and coasted and still ran a 160mph 1/4 mile. i forget the e.t. but he only made one pass and put it back on the trailer.

usually the fast foreign car there is a 320 bmw with a small block chevy in it. if we lived in houston we'd probably see a lot more fast japanese stuff.
