how long does your driving school take ?
i was considering the MMT tranny but the acceleration is slower so I have bought 6 speed manual
it varies widely from state to state, but I only needed 8 hours in the car and a 1 hour class once a week for 2 or 3 months before I could take the test.

Just installed my custom polished aluminum shift knob, looks now like manual

I was stationed in England in 1976 as a 20-year old, and the first car I had there had to be test-driven FOR ME as I sat in the passenger seat! This was for a couple of reasons. First, I was reallllllly uncomfortable with right-hand drive, and also, I wasn't that great on a stick at the time.

I learned quickly that having an automatic over there was indeed rare. I never knew any guys I was on the base with who had one. I learned the stick and driving on the left side of the road quickly, believe me. Did I like it? Not really, but I've had tons of sticks since then and find they are just inconvenient most times. With cell phones, drinks, and all the hills I have to deal with in my area, it's just easier to have an automatic.

Lots a Hills in my area also, the Yaris Auto trans handle them very well,
not over shifting up or down a lot like some autos I have driven, I don't use 3rd drive much no need to the auto trans is that good, Toyota really got it right with the Yaris Auto transmission.
If I have to pass someone on a two lane road ,which is all the time on these country roads RVs,and
boat trailers,I floor it and the Auto responds very quickly and downshifts, not all Auto trans will do this.
The Yaris really is a amazing little car.
