L.E.D not lasting as expected?? - Toyota Yaris Forums

l.e.d's not lasting as long as advertise..in a real sense it should last longer than regular auto bulbs BUT,,..assuming that the right current is going thru the led.. they maybe able to regulate the voltage but amperage is the same and the amps is what shortening the life of the led..which now last far shorter that the standard bulb..does this make sense???

The LED's will take the amount of current they're spec'd to take. The LED's typically die due to the voltage spikes in the electrical system. I have yet to see any LED drop-in bulb kits offering more than just a simple resistor and diode regulation. I go overkill on my stuff and use a voltage regulator with caps at the input voltage and regulated voltage sides.

im afraid to put them led strips i bought not knowing if itll last that long..

i put those strips in my headlight....dey last about a month before they started flickering then they just died.

+1 on the voltage regulator.

A $0.50 LM7812 (12VDC regulator), a .33uF cap on the input and a .1uF cap on the output and the LEDs will outlast the car.

?, where do we install them? I got V-leds al over my HB and i don't want them to die on me! It's been a month and still no issues but I'd like to protect them.

depends how you do it, but most likely you'd need to splice your wires since you arent working with a custom LED board. You could try to just put a 1n4001 diode in series and a capacitor in parallel for a small improvement on reliability, and it should be easier to wire up.

my led turn signals is tapped on the turn lights so far it works great but its only been 2 weeks..heres the link.. just wait a bit the video is meant for front bumper paint job.

im curious as to the LED strips and water. BOBSELECTRIC has them mounted in his lower bumper where their exposed to the elements.....
