Rear hatch problem

Hello fellow yaris owners,

I'm new to this forum and would like to have your opinion. I have a yaris XP90 2012 (Indonesia) and I havw a problem with the rear hatch. First I noticed that my trunk light won't turn on i thought the bulb is not working, but then i also noticed when the rear hatch is open, the open door warning light on the speedometer won't lit. I tried to ask the maintenance center and they asked me to replace the latch. Does it really necessary? or do you guys have any similar issue and know how to fix it? Thank you

the latch switch would be the likely culprit assuming if you open any other door and everything functions as normal
