2zzGE engine
hey all.. i have a AT hatch in my driveway tht i can pic up if i wanted, i currently drive a 1990 240sx (rps13) i was looking for something a little newer, smoother the yaris looks pretty sick and did research on some cosmetics, i like, cf parts, rims, suspension etc, but i have the problem with its litto engine
i think i can turn it into a TOUGE monster, and hella fun with a 2zz but i cants seem to find anyone who has done it, iv done countless time of research and cant find a thing... does any one know if some one has done the 2zz ge engine swap and if so who, and where..? if there are any other engines to be used let me know as well, i would really love to own a bad ass yaris |

Anything can be done, and it has been done before.
Its not a honda swap though, there just arent the same resources/how to's. |

Just like spkrman said it can be done and no their are no guides for it. Everything is custom. As a matter of fact alot of swaps have been put into the yaris. If you dump a 2zz in the yaris the oil change will be pure he**. It sits so close to the radiator. I posted this a while back on the forums. http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...ghlight=2zz-ge
Your best bet is to get a rebuild the engine/tranny, a boost it, a lot cheaper. Unless you have the time and the money(or you do it yourself).

boost is your friend. spkrman can tell you all about it. the 1nz engine does well with moderate boost. and if you decide to build the block you can easily get 250-275whp. plenty nice for me!

Truly the best swap for the car is a 5efte setup. 5efe engine then 4efte turbo kit and do internals and you're in the 350hp mark. The engine is light, 1.5L, and can take abuse like crazy.
(read this off of something...im doing mad research to see what this cars potential is) |

i still think a 2zzge engine would be the funes reason being.. it redlines stock @ 8200rpms and that lift is way crazy

I would do a blacktop 4age... that would fit a little better and not over-do the torque for touge. They have map controlled ITBs so they breathe really well at high rpm as well. they also have VVTLI as well.

The 4age motor doesn't have vvtl-i. It has vvt. If you look at the 2zz-ge picture it sits really close to the radiator,, you would will have to make alot of custom parts which equals $$$$$$. A the 4age has plenty of room because of its 1.6L displacement. The U.S. yaris is a 1.5 liter, you can stroke that motor, and still have room for turbo, which are available now, forged pistons, connecting rods, which will get you up to 205-210whp with a good tune running about 14lbs, with the exception of a upgraded tranny(auto, manual) and a upgraded intake manifold. I am not bashing the 2zz-ge at all it's a good motor but requires alot of money and time, unless you have that go for it.

If I had the 600 bucks that someone (hem, Girlfriend) owes me, I would buy this...
Depending upon shape of the product, but couldnt beat the price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4AGE-...spagenameZWDVW 160 horses right off the bat, just get a new ECU, custom exhaust and SRI and you could be hitting 190ish+, "el na'tural" But honestly, stick with what you got...Turbo and Internals would be the best way to go, always great to say your pushing 200hp on a 1.5L

There is a guy in Ottawa that runs a tercel with a tiny little engine and turbo (from a starlet I think) and is running 14.0 @ 1XXmph That is fast considering we are likely in the high 16s, if not low 17s.
Yes, the 2ZZ-GE would be sweet -- you are talking big bucks! If ya got em, DO IT! You will be the envy of ALL OF US. Be different. Be prepared to spend a lot of time finding good fabricators... (and band-aids) You might want to spend some time on some corolla boards (corollacustomz.com, toyota nation, etc) to get some advice. Back when we had a corolla, a lot of people talked about doing the swap and a few actually did them. This was of course before the Corolla XRS was produced. IMHO, anything more than 250 whp in a FWD is a waste unless you have major experience in R&D or racing to be able to develop the whole car to handle that power. You will need to do custom suspension (heavier engine), LSD so you aren't doing peg-leg burnouts and BRAKES, etc, etc. Cheers and good luck with your project, Carvin' Last edited by Carvin'07; 05-19-2007 at 08:42 AM. doesnt fit w/o major modications...
notch frame to fit, lose the a/c, and need to weld on a cross member in front of the engine to accept the front transmission/engine mount
