Steering swap

Hi,

Do you think I will be able to swap the standard steering on the 99 Vitz with a steering from a 2008 yaris (from this image: http://www.toyota.com.mt/bv/1024-gal...image7_800.jpg )? Will the splines that connect the steering wheel to the car's column match? Or any other issues?

no you can not as the steering wheel internal shape is different
and your stock covers will not fit.
If you want a leather steering wheel go to sparks toyota and look on there web site, look at the xa , xb wheels to 2005 they should fit.
no dobt some one will correct me if i am wrong.
below is twhat a 2008 steering wheel internal looks like compare it to yours.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think the facelift (mk2?) will have a steering wheel that matches?



On a seperate note is there a way to hide those screws behind the internal door open levers. I find them an eye-sore and as you can see from the above pic they havent been fixed in the face lift version.

this is the steering wheel i like alot! I miss my 1st gen face lift :(
