2007 Yaris - Advice Please

Hi all,

I am looking very seriously about getting a 2007 Toyota Yaris. I am looking at getting the 4 door sedan with the Aero package in Red. For some reason, the Aero package does not have A/C, but I want it so I will have to shell out about $1,100 for that. The quote I got was at about $385/month for 60 months while financing at 4.9%. I live in Toronto so that is Canadian dollars.

Evidently, some negotiation is going to take place. How low do you think I could talk them down? At what montly payment should I accept? Has anyone else been in this situation? Should I negotiate base price or try to get accessories for free? Try and get them to cover the A/C?

Thanks for any advice, it's greatly appreciated!

4.9% is quite low for APR - here the lowest dealerships offer is around 8.2%

Yes, the APR %'s are quite good here. I'm still thinking I can maybe talk them into free A/C and maybe 500 more off?

Depends if you are buying off the lot or special-ordering: dealers are usually more eager to deal on a car they already have.

What to negotiate depends on your dealer too--also depends on if you have a trade-in. In the US at least there is not that much mark-up, maybe $1500 on cars this price range.

Just FYI, beware of hidden fees and costs (like mine had a "dealer association fee," which basically means their co-op advertising costs, plus other BS fees)--ask to see invoice with all dealer charges shown or for an "off the lot" price to get your total.

Your interest rate sounds great! Mine was 6.79% through my bank. Getting a pre-approved loan from the bank made negotiation a lot easier too.

Thanks for the replies.

I do not have a trade in. Likely, the dealer will not have the exact model I want on the lot so I will probably have to wait a week or so to get it they say. I think I am going to try to get them to give me the A/C at no charge and go with that.

While there is a little room to play, dealers dont generally make too much money off of the Yaris, so while you may negotiate it may only be for a few hundred dollars at most. But a discount is a discount!

If you want instant gratification, just settle on the color. I personally don't think they make sedans in ugly colors. They're all cool.

I figure I saved about 800 bucks.

I got the C package.... 3,000 down .... 360 even a month for 60 months @ 4.9%. I got the C package in silver.... and made them throw in $855 alloy wheels. Plus I got a 500 graduate rebate and 1,000 rebate from the gov't!

I'm happy!

800 bucks? I paid $ 90 a piece for cool 5 spoke alloys at Summit Racing. You may subtract 500 bucks from your savings then....just kidding
