^ At WOT it won't matter, there isn't any ECU "learning" in open loop.
It does learn your "style" etc. for regular driving/partial throttle/cruising; that's what we've been testing this week.

^ We don't know the price yet, and we haven't tested it with any aftermarket intakes. What you see in the thread is everything we know and have done so far.
If the dyno shows some power gains, we will further refine the design if we can to fit the stock or aftermarket intakes to the manifold.

I'd buy it even if I had to modify the factory/aftermarket intake. Maybe include a intake with a diameter tube that matches the 1zz tb with a mount for the MAF sensor? Eagerly awaiting this to go up for sale.

^ Good ideas. Dyno session is Thursday, after that we'll figure out what we're doing next.

I wonder if changing the intake manifold gasket to a non-metal material would help? More metal (compared to the plastic manifold) could translate to some heat soak?

I did the dyno runs without it and the manifold was blazing hot. That big one inch thick slab of aluminium "heatsink" laying across the intake ports transfers engine heat like crazy. I'm going to get longer bolts to put the insulating gasket on. Last edited by tooter; 09-04-2012 at 03:52 PM. |

If I understand intake properly, you'd want more heat soak. Intake air temps you want to be lower, exhaust should be warmer. Heating the intake temps will rob some of the power (hence why cold-air intakes provide more power over short-ram and OEM)
Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :EDIT: Completely misread, and didn't notice the "gasket" portion of what was said. Thought you meant the ENTIRE manifold... I'll go back to my corner now

^ The manifold will get pretty hot from regular driving, especially stop and go, or "around town". Once you are moving pretty well, the longer runners will help protect against too much heat transfer.
The insulator/spacer might help a little. I'm not sure we'll be able to test one on the dyno though. |
