Finally broke 40 mpg
350.6 actual miles, recalculated for 195/60R15 tires that are 1.98% too slow = 357.54 miles / 8.9 gallons for 40.17 mpg.
Honestly i don't know how some of you get 45-50 mpg, because i drove like an old grandpa to get 40 mpg. I did have to run the a/c more than half the time though here in se texas. |

In open country, you have the wind working against you much of the time. I used to be an avid cyclist, and know from experience that the wind very seldom helps. It has to be blowing from directly behind you, and rarely is.

"Grandpa" is very subjective. What is grandpa for you?

OP was stating "old grandpa" in describing his driving habit. I just reiterated... Yes, the term is subjective in nature.
Grandpa for me would be cruising the car on open highways at under 2,100 RPM and under 55MPH. Slow accelerater starts and long engine glide stops. Non-aggressive turns, lane switches, or up-shifts/down-shifts... Cheers!
