Sedan trunk question
I apologise if this has been asked before, i searched and could not find any info.
Is there a seperate key for the trunk on the sedan? I bought a 07 sedan (no power package) used and it had only one key. That key opens the front doors and starts the ignition but does not open the trunk. only way i can open the trunk is the trunk lever by the driver's seat. Any help is appreciated. |

Strange... my key works. Does the key you have has the black rubber around on top.? If so that sshould've open all locks.
Or do you have the one with out that rubber pice?

If im not mistaken it should have come with 3, one with Black rubber that opens the doors, trunk and turn car on, a Copy of that one where the head is about the same size and the black one and one with a smaller head kinda curved called a Valet key( at least here in PR) This one only opens Doors and turns ignition but wont open the trunk..

I got two of the ones that work everything and one Valet key. With my 2007 Sedan.
Sounds like all you got was the Valet key. Also on the trunk. With the normal key if you rotate the trunk lock 90 degrees counter clockwise. It disable the trunk lever next to the drivers seat. |

thanks for the replies, i must have the valet key. i did notice it was kinda crooked. the car was purchased from a dealer who got it at a toyota motor credit repo auction. i bet the key was used to repo the car. i asked the dealer and he said this is the only key he has.
how do i go about getting the original key that opens the doors ignition and trunk? the dealership? |

Even with the keyless entry option, you still should have a master key WITHOUT the remote.. and for 07, did not have the rubber covering the key.

I know with the sedan trunk if you take the key and put it in the trunk keyhole and you turn it left it does nothing but if you turn it right it opens it, did you turn it right yet?

If you turn it to the left and remove the key. It disconnects the trunk opener next to the drivers seat.

That's when the valet key becomes useful. Otherwise, someone with the valet key could enter the car and pop the trunk with the lever.

don't forget to lock the rear seats 40/60 fold down when you want to lock the trunk. Otherwise, valet key or not. it all becomes useless. haha
