Blackend inside exhaust tip

I was washing my car and noticed black stuff inside the exhaust pipe and outside on the bottom part, is this a problem or not? Picture of black stuff below hopefully you can tell.

depending on your driving habits, people following you may see a puff of "smoke" come out of your exhaust, which is actually just that buildup making its way into our lovely green earth :D . but if you drive balls (errr... ovaries...??) to the wall all the time the buildup never.. builds.. up... in your exhaust :D

Mine stays shiny and clean inside under normal circumstances. If I punch the gas pedal all the way down and hold it for a while, as I've occasionally done on a long uphill merge ramp onto the Interstate nearby with 4 adults in the car, the exhaust tip turns black inside. Get beyond about 80% load, and the engine goes into open loop operation with the mixture enriched. You'd likely see some smoke from the tailpipe under those conditions. Wipe out the inside of the tip with a damp paper towel, and see how long it takes to blacken again. Pay attention to how you're driving when it does.
