Welcome to the forums. Im in Perth too, there a few Perth owners who have moded their Yaris. Anyway, i don't see why Neutral to 1st Gear should be stiff.

When i bought mine when it was stock it never had problems going into gear, so you might want to get it checked.

After i installed the NST Short shifter and bushings, it was alot firmer...but i got use to it after awhile. And it feels good. This might sound like its coming from no where atm, since you might not have read about them yet. Haha.

What colour is your car? Could give people a better idea of what rims to recommend. But rims are a matter of personal taste, you might like something like someone else thinks looks ugly and so forth.

paint is Ink Mica
its currently just a stock

ive seen some rims i like but wanna get a broad idea of wat else is there

as for the gears ive read a little about it and it seems common with the 09 model around the world its not a major issue for me its just kind of unusual seeming as ive driven many cars and it wasn as firm as this

i will post pics as soon i finish work and have my cables to get pics from my phone to my comp

ink mica , is that another name for blue

As for your first gear issue , try lubricating the 2 shift bushes on top of the gear box .

We need to get you moding, then come join our Perth Toyota meets. Haha.

Wheels that suit your car maybe Black rim/Polished Lip. Possibly Gold with Lip or White Rims if your keen on cleaning them alot. Haha.

You can check out the Black Photo Thread have a browse it might give you some ideas.

I bought my 17's from West State Tyres, its in Bentley. Its along Albany Hwy kinda near Vic Park. They have queit a lot of wheels on display, compared to shops like Bob Jane and such. Guess you could pop by there after going to the City. I work in the City too. Haha.

Tech 9 Tyres i think has a pretty wide range too, but its in O'Connor before Fremantle. Which is kinda far for you.

Other then those two which have more on display. Just try Bob Jane or maybe The Tyre Factory.
