Why do people want a new powerplant? The INZ-FE is a great little motor that has proven itself to be efficient and reliable.
The aparent lack of power is due to the lack-luster engine calibration that toyota has loaded into the ECM to fight anything that could be construed as "run-away-acceleration". My 2001 Echo had a 1NZFE in it and it felt like it had 25% more power than the current Yaris. Dad's '07 Yaris was faster than my '10. Even if toyota installed the next generation motor....it would be slow. They are scared of the lawyers. |
