High-performance Toyota Yaris revealed
The car has been confirmed to produce more than 210bhp, though, which would make it one of the more powerful offerings in the small hot hatch segment today. Toyota wouldn't specify which engine would power the car, but a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is more likely than the 1.6-litre displacement which many cars in this segment have; the 1.6 will be reserved for the rally car only, so the 1.5-litre is a better fit logistically for the car. It's also expected to be front-wheel drive, despite the four-wheel drive setup more associated with rallying. The class average 0-62mph time is between 6.5sec and 7.0sec, although the car's extra power could mean that a time of nearer to 6.0sec could be possible. Despite other cars in the class turning to five-door only body styles, the hot Yaris will be offered as a three-door only, and the Yaris itself will get both body styles. The hot hatch also spearheads the rest of the Yaris range, so in unveiling this model, the new Yaris has also been unmasked. |

Dann that side rear fender looks a lot like a Fiat. All in all not a bad looking car in just not a huge fan of the gaping front grill.
If rather spend less for a stock yaris and customize the handling, height and engine myself. I'm sure the price tag won't be cheap...although over 200bhp is impressibe

I'm reading 1.6 liter from other sources, too.
http://www.subcompactculture.com/201...ed-210-hp.html I certainly hope this comes to the U.S. but I doubt it will. I'm afraid Toyota has missed the b-segment hot hatch boat already, which arguably peaked in 2012-2013 with Abarth, Fiesta, Sonic Turbo, MINI Cooper S two door revision, etc. Fingers crossed.

Very pleased that it appears to be a real Toyota and not a rebadged Mazda.

I also hope it comes here, if only to give the regular automotive journalists something to get excited about at Toyota. They're going to have an aneurysm if the regular Yaris keeps using the 1NZ-FE and 4-speed auto.
I'm not sold on the looks, but I have a hard time liking anything in white. |

Gonna laugh if they reuse a 1nz-fet and basically we get an carried over grmn vitz with higher boost

It doesn't need any rear doors, extra weight. Heck it does need any rear seats either.

Yes, that's what I'm hoping! Parts interchangeability ftw! Engine swap!
