Yaris Discontinued for U.S. Market
Well, it's official: The Yaris (yes, the Mazda-made versions) will be kaput after 2020.
https://autowise.com/the-toyota-yari...year-autowise/ The writing was sort of on the wall, but that makes the '20 hatchback (of which I've never actually seen in person) a one-year-only model. It also means this is the first time in decades Toyota won't have a subcompact vehicle for sale in the U.S. There was Yaris, Echo, Tercel, Starlet before it.

Saw a post about this in the third-gen section yesterday. Sad story. Strange to think that Toyota won't have a subcompact offering. Sign of the US times, I guess. Although, given everything going on, there may be a need soon enough.

My 2009 has around 30,000 miles on it. I hope to be driving this awesome subcompact for another 20 years.

Perhaps Americans will fall out of love with crossovers and subcompact hatches will come back in style. Then Toyota finally gives us the GR Yaris from Europe and we all live happily ever after. |

Yeah it's odd, they introduce the hatch and then bam! It's over. But if gas prices shoot up....hmmm. Granted don't they have the Corolla hybrid now? Aside from buying costs not much reason to get the Yaris. Sad to say. Even then buying new if you want to equipped you can get bigger car with comperable if not better mpg for the same price or there abouts.

I would like the Prius C more if they had dropped the 2ZR-FXE into it instead of the gutless turd 1NZ-FXE.

WHY!?
What would make Toyota pull this model off the US market. (And what about Canada?) There must be really significant reasons, and it must be about profits and sales (DUH!). So what is / are the distractor/s? |

Bad sales in the US plus they want to push the new corolla (can't say I blame them)

The new model is now listed for sale here in Australia.
Unfortunately, the price has gone up - the base model manual is listed for AU$25,551 drive away, while the CVT Auto raises the price to AU$27,096. For comparison, a base mode Corolla hatch manual is AU$27,939. Power and torque for the new 1.5 litre 3 cylinder are listed as 88kW (118hp) and 145nM (107 lbf ft) for the non hybrid. Combined power output for the hybrid is slightly lower.

My 2013 has 50 000 KMs and I have never had to do any work to it so far other than oil changes. Arguably the most well built subcompact in history. I will keep it forever .
