AUTOCROSS in DFW 5/2 and 5/3
Texas Region SCCA is holding an autox event this Sunday, 5/3 at the Mineral Ring, located next to the Mineral Wells Airpark, west of Ft Worth/Weatherford. This is by far the biggest venue in the area, and is generally VERY fast and fun, even if the drive is a bit longer than others. They are also holding a practice event (same as a "real" event, just no points/trophies) on Saturday for $15, so a great chance to really learn the ropes and feel-out your Yaris (or whatever). There are a couple of Yaris drivers besides myself starting to show-up at these things, and we are very competitive in H-stock. For this event, I'll be in my blue Miata w/ white stripes (#33) if you want to chat or get some driving tips for getting good cornering out of the Yaris. I do run the Yaris at some other clubs' events, but the Miata is my "points" car for SCCA events.
http://autocross.com/texasregion/ PM me for more info or if you want to meet-up. Yes, I know they are calling for rain, but we actually do this rain-or-shine, and it is a blast when you are "drifting" a bit. The rain makes it easier on tires too. Also, the rain looks to be fairly hit-or-miss during the AM. Last edited by ozmdd; 05-01-2009 at 06:44 PM. Reason: url |
