A few general questions
I just inherited 2007 automatic yaris sedan after buying my wife a rav4. Looking to make some improvements to the car. Just looking for some ideas to improve ride quality and small enchancements.
I've been upkeeping it with Mobil 1 ep fully synthetic. K&n drop in air filter. Replacement plugs, new hankook tires, just put on new shoes, and ordered a cruise control parts from a member here. Looking for a 07-08 speedo cluster with tach. Other than that I don't know. Would it be worth it trying to put a energy suspension kit on it? I'd like a better handling car if possible. Does anyone know if I can swap in more comfortable seats from another toyota? Anyone ever have a musty wet smell in the car or strange odors? Mileage is around 80k . Thanks. |

The musty AC is actually a very common problem. There are a couple of threads on here about it, but in a nutshell there are two potential issues:
1. Evaporator issue - There is actually a service bulletin about this issue, where Toyota replaces the evaporator and the AC ECU to help with the issue. I assume you are past warranty, but if not you could try to get Toyota to take care of it. 2. Clogged condensate drain - If the drain gets plugged the airbox backs up with condensate and basically becomes a cesspool. The most common cause of this is the lack of a cabin air filter. Behind the glove box there is a slot for a filter, but one is not typically installed unless the owner does so. The filter really helps keep stuff out that eventually would cause the drain to plug. The fix for the drain issue is to unplug it by sticking something flexible up the drain tube (which is accessible by pulling up the left top corner of the carpet in the passenger foot well.

You can go to MicroImageOnline.com and see about picking up their lowering springs. The spring rates are really good from what I hear and the mild drop will also enhance handling. While there too you can check out picking up a 19mm rear sway bar...makes a HUGE difference and unless you are getting into Auto X, etc the 19mm will be fine. I have an UltraRacing 19mm and works great for me and I hug the hell out of some corners while in full boost.
