Do you want an amp for the sub only, or an amp to run everything?
If it's just for the sub, I would get a Pioneer mono amp + a 12" sub + ported box, look in Sonic Electronics, all this would be for less than $300

What's the reason you want to trade out ? Is it old, not loud enough, or just have a few extra bucks and want something new.
Which alphasonics do you have the bottom line ones ? mid or the mack daddy top of the line one's http://www.alphasonikinc.com/subwoofers.html Reason i ask is the 600 and 800 look pretty beefy.

Dude to be honest, I would just try a bigger amp on them, i bet you weren't even hitting half the RMS. (get the model number of your pioneer and we can look that up ) I have been running the Hifonics Brutus Line and have been happy with there stuff. You're asking for Opinions so here's mine Everybody has there personal preference on audio, and i'm not gonna flame any other brand or believe mine is better, it's all on your own personal experience.
This is what i have and i'm pushing two 12 inch kicker comps with no problem @ 1 Ohm They have an ebay, but these are the guys i ordered two amps from and were pretty good .. http://www.vminnovations.com/product...Amplifier.html # Type: Mono Block # 1-Ohm Power Rating 1x1200 # 2-Ohm Power Rating 1x900 # 4-Ohm Power Rating 1x450 # Turn-On Delay/ Mute # Frequency Response @-3dB: 20-250Hz # Damping Factor: >250 # Signal To Noise Ratio: > 95 dB # THD + Noise: < 0.1% # Variable Input Level Control (RCA/Unbalanced): 0.2V - 9V # Variable Input Level Control (Mini DIN Balanced): 0.4V - 18V # Input Impedance: 47k Ohm # Input Impedance: 20k Ohm # Power and Specific Diagnostics LEDs # Protection DC, Short Circuit, Overload # Power Supply - All MOSFET: Full PWM # Power Output Circuit Type: Ultra-Fi MOSFET # Variable Phase Shift # Phase Change in Degrees: 0-+180 # Variable Low-Pass 24 dB Octave: 35Hz - 250Hz # Variable Subsonic Filter: 15Hz - 35Hz # Bass EQ: 0-+18 dB # Balanced Inputs # RCA Inputs # RCA Line Outputs # Remote Bass Module Included # Gold Plated Power Terminal Blocks: 4 GA # Dimensions : 11.42" x 9.45" x 2.52"

The basslink is more of a "Bass Filler" than anything, it was my very first "system".

If you can find one (I'm sure you can), pick up an Alpine PDX 1.600 mono amp. They are compact, run cool, are cheap as they're being phased out for a replacement, and can push a 12" Type R sub like you would not believe.
The next most important investment you will make is in a good sub box or enclosure. Don't go too cheap - minimum .75" MDF. Yes, it's extra weight in the car but if you are asking these questions, I assume you give a rat's a** about your bass. Good luck |
