i'm happy with my dunlop graspic ds-3. I has great dry handling, didn't complain from last year's mess, and 99mph rating :P I'm 15 miles south of you, in the Fairfield/Easton/Bridgeport line with a good amount of backroads and hills too; so there you go. lol.

I am about 10 minutes from you in Southbury and for the past 2 Winters I just ran the Goodyear Eagle LS tires that came on my car. I thought that they were actually better than most people say, but for this Winter I picked up a set of Continental Viking snow tires mounted to OEM S rims from fnkngrv. I got a chance to test them out when Alfred hit, and was very impressed. Plus, with a cartoon viking they have got to be good.

lol cartoon viking ftw! That last tropical snow storm didn't really do much in my area, so I can't commment. I also cheat using my TCS and powering through everything and not caring about my heavy foot and let the ECU take care of it all lol.

General G-MAX are supposed to have great snow traction, with the ability to pickup and drop the snow easily to gain traction. I cannot comment on that personally, yet. I'm waiting for snow, hopefully it snows on my trip up north :)

BLIZZAK WS 70s for the '08 sedan . These were bought last year in November ( or was it December ? ) for the 2010 3 door we traded for the '11 FIT . Wearing well . 11/32s ( rear of 2010 last winter ) and 10/32s ( on front of the '10 ) . They start at 12/32s . Have them at 36 p.s.i. due to the swings in temps . Just purchased 4 of the the WS 60s at $85 each and had them installed for the FIT . They begin at 11/32s . Here's the pics :

I'm been on Firestone Winterforce's for the past couple of winters. Work great and have seemed to last a good while, although this will be their final year (3rd year on them IIRC.)

Are your Winterforce with studs ? They look to have a very aggressive tread . Came very close to getting them . Would have to be w/o studs . Scuff up the 1 and a 1/4 year old driveway .

I wish I had money for some winter tires... I'm curious how winter will be with the OEM tires... consider I did like 4 auto-x events on them... the fronts had quite a bit of roll onto the side and wore pretty good (didnt have enough psi...)

Oh well getting them rotated for my 5k service today. and the rears are in better shape. Thinking about grabbing some steelies and winter tires to throw on December-March in future years tho, everyone says their awesome.. and some say its not really worth it for the few heavy snow storms we get a year here.

winter will be slippery on stock all seasons...especially after 4 auto-x's

i usually put mine on around halloween and take them off at easter (+/-)

winter tires are better than all seasons below 8C (40F)....

i ran winterforce tires last year (185-65-14) and didnt like them that much. i found the car is too light generally.

They are studdable but it is illegal to run studs here.

Considering i'm coming from a car that had summer performance kumho's that i ran in the winter i think i'll have a lil bit more grip than that lol.

i used to have Blizzaks on a Miata in south Louisiana, lol. that's what was on it when I bought it. they looked like offroad tires.

45 minutes West of you (Bloomington area).
winter tires are worth it. They are great for those occasional nasty storms, but also good when we get ice and freezing rain (which seems to be more often). The stock tires were so-so when new, but when worn to 5/32" tread depth they were nearly useless in the snow.

We run ContiExtremeWinterContact on the stock steelies (185/60r15)
