Toyota Performance Exhaust for Yaris HB
Just wanted to point out that the Toyota Performance Exhaust for the Yaris Hatchback (in Canada at least) is made by Borla.
I was disappointed to find out that this exhaust system was not the TRD JDM exhaust that is available via TRD. List price for the exhaust is CAD $600 or so, and in my opinion, is not worth it. Considering the power increase from it will be around 5% max, there will not be a signficant increase in performance or fuel economy. Now let's just patiently wait for more performance oriented parts to arrive in North/South America from Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Are you sure the TRD JDM exhaust isn't Borla as well?

As ROCKLAND TOYOTA has noted, Borla is not a Japanese company so they would not be the ones to OEM for TRD Japan. There's TRD USA, TRD Europe, and TRD Japan as far as I know, and each particular region has its own special manufacturers for "TRD" parts.

TRD anything has lousy performance gains for the dollar compared to other opitions. They are no where near performance oriented compared to Mugen/Spoon. Even trd japan has low gains compared to other products they have in their country. Plus, they can get away with more whp numbers since higher oct. gas, different standards as far as emissions go, and so on.

TRD re-brands a considerable amount of their stuff.
Having a TRD borla exhaust wouldn't cross my mind. I believe TRD rebranded eibach springs for the scion TC. |

well whatever anyone says....I had the perpormance exhaust intalled and it actually sounds real nice, and and quite a large system as well, not those little dinky 8" diameter mufflers.

yeah I got it dyno'd (bro'd friend works in a shop and it added 4 hp which isn't a great gain, but I wasn't really looking for big gains. and when I say performance exhaust it is because thats what the dealership calls it, not me thinking performance.

I took a look at the 3D interactive view on the Toyota website and that muffler has a wild tight gooseneck 180 degrees on the downstream flow out the muffler on the Liftback.
Is that for real? Can somebody please verify this. If so, what were the engineers thinking when they designed that muffler. |

Axle backs aren't completely useless, it just depends on the piping size and how many bends there are. Usually, cat backs do yeild quite a bit more whp than axle backs, but i have seen some axle backs actually push identical numbers as cat backs. Design is everything. |

Here you go. Click on 3D Tours and then on interactive. I had to install some software to check it out but I wanted to see what the bottom of my future car looks like.
The muffler setup scared me. http://toyota.com/vehicles/2007/yari...ME_FLASH_YARIS |
