Replacing an 1NZFE by another 1NZFE ?
I was wondering, if you take out the 1NZFE engine from a 2009 Yaris and you replace it byt another 1NZFE engine from another yaris. Will the swap be bolt on ? I Mean : will it start at first crank or it will need the ecu to be reset or something like that ?
The reason i'm asking that : Is that a good idea for a long term boost project to buy an used 1NZFE engine and rebuilting it with forger internals etc... and swapping this one in the engine bay ?

Yes it will bolt right in & no the ECU would not need to be reset. And your thinking is also a good idea about using another spare engine. They are so inexpensive that building a spare one with forged internals is a good idea. That way you always have your original engine.

Not all 1nzfe are the same. The ones in the u.s. are all the type '99, but in late 2003, there was a redesign that added adjustable lashes, rocker rollers, oil rails, and an egr. It is the type '03 and was distributed in other countries. It is mechanically different and not all parts are interchangable with the type '99 that was distributed in the states.

in us spec yarises the 07 and 08 have a different valve cover baffling system compared to 09+, you can see it in the corner of the valve cover their is a slot in 09+ and 07 and 08 their isnt, i dont think it really matters which one you have but getting an 09+ engine would be a better choice for having the updated pcv baffling and it helps with a little oil burning i imagine.
