My new Shark Fin Antenna!

Hey guys,
so when I saw this as an option for my yaris a few weeks ago on this site I knew I had to get it. Two weeks after ordering it, here she is.

I know this look isn't for some of you but I personally love it. I think it makes the car look even cuter which is what it's all about when you're a girl . I noticed after I installed it that the shape of the fin echoes the shape of the yaris so it's like having a mini yaris on top of my yaris...sounds weird but I think it looks really neat. Also, I've noticed no loss of radio reception since putting it on. Mind you, I have only driven in the city since installing it so it's not like I really tested it out but since 95% of my driving is in the city, I don't think it will ever be an issue for me.

I purchased this from VisualGarage ( http://www.visualgarage.com/home.html ). Installation was very easy. Having two people is definitely recommended. The company website has a nice detailed installation page with pictures. The only thing I would recommend differently from their instructions is attaching the antenna and than taping it off. They recommend taping it off first but when you attach the antenna, you might find it wants to sit in a different place naturally.

So here she is with the new antenna

I like the way these low profile antennae look and think it compliments the car well. However, I was wondering if you have noticed any degradation of signal reception?

Looks nice

How did you handle the paint, did it come pre-painted or is it a DIY?

Like I said, I've only done city driving with it so far but the sound quality is identical to the stock one as far as I can tell. It even got reception in my underground parkade, as good or better as the stock one ever did.

So far the sound quality for my radio is the exact same as the stock antenna. I've experienced no degradation but I live in a major city. Not sure what the reception would be like if I was out in the boonies. I do plan to go on a road trip to Portland soon so I'll update after my trip and let you know how it is between cities. I have underground parking and the antenna even gets reception there, it's scratchy but no scratchier than the stock antenna got.

As far as the paint, the company takes care of all of that for you. All you have to do is give them the make and model of the car and your paint color code. If you know the name of your paint color (which I think most of us do) you can select the paint code color from their website based on the name of your paint. For example, my color is called "absolutely red" so the code is 3PO.

Thanks so much! It's one of my favorite areas of the city.

Few questions.

What brand is it? Where did you get it from? Did you have to paint it or did it come in that color? How much is it?

It's from a company called Visual Garage. Their website is http://www.visualgarage.com/home.html

The antenna comes prepainted. They match the shark fin to the color code of your car. You can go onto their site, select your car make and model and the name of your car color and they'll tell you what color code you should be specifying in your order. As far as I'm aware, they have matching colors for all the yaris's.

The price on their website is $69.00. That doesn't include the cost of shipping. I kinda lucked out. I live in Vancouver Canada. This company is located just outside of Vancouver in a city called Richmond so I was able to drive there (half hour drive) and pick it up. I paid $75.00 Cdn total for it.

no worries. To each his own.

What I also love about it is that I've yet to see another Yaris with one here and Vancouver is Yaris central! I see them everywhere but now mine stands out.....for now haha.

What you don't like the R/C car look? Heck, I was thinking about putting a little orange flag on mine just for kicks.

I got mine from Hong Kong (ebay) for $2 and $6 for Sh&h no paint.

It's fake but looks good.

Every thing started as a joke, and I placed an order a week later there it was!
