If you have the money (and preferably the support of your wife), I don't see what you're waiting for. Buy a beater, find a local shop, and get a build going!

... But I may be a bit biased because I want to see a serious build

I am already Running 9.5/1 cp pistons and Pauter rods at about 19-20psi with my custom turbo set up. And I am sure I am not at 300whp. More like 230-250whp I would guess. I am still working on a missfire issue. The FIC piggyback is only good to 22psi. Blown XA reached 300whp at 27psi if I remember right. I would take whatever you think it will cost and add about 2-3 grand. There are many small parts fittings lines gaskets etc. that add up fast. And I would plan on a standalone ECM to reach 300whp. If you live in a place with emissions testing that can be a problem.

Dear lord, tell me about it. BOTH of my cars need inspection done and even talking about fake inspection to anyone is like talking about... Lord Voldemort.

I just got my emissions test notice in the mail. I need to pass before the end of June. I am going to put in my stock injectors and bypass plug for the FIC and disconnect the turbo with the wastegate fully open and see if I can keep the check engine light off. ?????

yea i'm just going to save up until i can actually get it all together at once, most likely going to get something else to play with and keep the Yaris as my reliable daily driver. no smog here in South Carolina, not yet anyways.

A lot of states don't. We're just screwed enough to live in states that love following california's lead, and then does stupid crap to screw everything up to make it even more stringent.

Not sure there would be any chance of a 300 hp Yaris passing any emissions test in Ma. Or in any state that hooks the emissions computer up to the car.
