2009 Sedan dome LED question
Alright, so I bought some LED dome lights (supposed to work in the map too supposedly) from ebay (came with 2 of them) and they are just a bit too long to fit in the dome bulb and just completely different from the map bulb. I've searched around on here but haven't really found anything unfortunately. Can someone recommend a good BRIGHT white LED map and dome light replacement bulb for the 2009 sedan? I don't like that nasty yellow glow and all the heat that comes off the regular filament bulb in the map/domes now. If at all possible, I'd like responses from people who have done this to their vehicle so the results are certain. I don't want to buy them and then have another unusable product lying about.
Thanks a lot, Mason

The Micro Image forums seem to be down or something. I can't see the link in the first page of thebarber's thread :( How's the brightness compared to factory? Also, when you say set you mean 1 dome bulb and 2 map bulbs?
Thanks! BTW here's what I have now.

factory dome is a 31mm bulb, hatch is 36mm, map lights are a wedge bulb. the 31 and 36mm bulbs i sell are high wattage and are much brighter than that 4-led bulb you've got there. the wedges are sell for the map lights have 5 led's in them and are SUPER bright
here are some pics of the led's installed...exposure makes them look bluey, a bit Dome light: Map lights: Trunk light:

Hi,
Can I ask... how come your yaris have only 2 control knobs in the middle column instead of 3??..... |

So... why do you want to use LED bulbs? Surely the intense heat of the stock incandescents are not broiling you alive in the driver's seat. That said, you're likely going to find LED lighting to be annoyingly directional, even for directional applications like map lights. And forget it for dome lights. Spend a moment to consider, critically, the LED hype, and how it relates to what you really want out of a dome light bulb. -Steve |

I really want LED because I hate that nasty yellow glow and the heat that comes off them. If I leave the map light on for a bit it feels like it's hot enough to cook a steak on. Yeah the white light looks a lot better, but the heat is the main thing. Oh and if I leave them on I don't have to worry about my battery dying unless I go on a month long trip or something haha.
Don't try to tell me why I'm doing something unless you have done some sweet ghost hacking, tapped into my brain, and downloaded my thoughts, in which case I applaud your 1337 skills. </ghost in the shell references>

So... are we talking about a safety issue... or do you just want trendy LED lights? Is this a practical matter? Or a fashion statement? -Steve |
