Came across this disc conversion..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edxgGu8YZZs
They have kits for 2005 onwards. Basically it keeps the drum functionality for the ebrake only and uses a caliper for the braking. Found it interesting. http://unique-power.com.tw/ https://i.imgur.com/3VtSWQX.png |

Contacted
I contacted.
Waiting back for more info for 2007 HB If price is reasonable then I may get. Its easily DIY. The Kit looks to be really well made. Its also mentioned in the comments other calipers and pads can be used. Those are not specific for this setup. |

Awesome. Can't wait to hear about it. Wonder if it would make sense to order an extra set of discs and ebrake drum pads.

The drum pads dont really concern me as they will only be used when parked.Cant see those wearing down with no movement/friction.
The disc drum does concern me though. If it does work for 2007 models then its probaly the easiest way to get disc setup plug and play. No need for modifications like other disc conversions(Runstop)and either having to replace axle(SE) part like mentioned on other threads |

First I know nothing about any of these rear brake conversions... could there be from the plant some sort of front/rear proportioning valve to handle differently the two setups available according to trim ? considering what little duty rears do I would be tempted to retain drums as I feel in our Canadian climate an enclosed system handles better salt exposure and corrosion !

I also agree that the stock drum setup would be better sealed for Canadian winters, though my turbo RS never sees winter.

Oh, I misread the response. I thought that it was $800.00 + $580.00 + shipping. I agree, $580.00 is very reasonable. Please let me know what you're quoted for shipping.

Not sure know that I think about it.
Not exactly sure what export price means? I assumed by the wording that if you were in thailand the price was 800 including installation And the cost for the item was 500 plus shipping. I will post back when I get the quote and ask them total price for the whole deal. |

Are you estimating the weight of the kit or have they given you an estimate on the weight? At 30 kg, I'd be looking at $500.00 shipping, plus import charges, and tax (15% in my province). Not including import charges, I'd be looking at close to $1500.00 CAD.

Not a quote from company.
Those are just quotes,or replys from an older reddit thread about shipping from thailand to US.
I just googled (shipping from thailand to the us cost reddit) I use reddit quite a bit for good info. Reddit is a wealth of info and help. Its my favourite site in the way you can interact. Its not like the normal forums. name it and there is a subreddit/group for it. They are slow to reply back,or the time difference aswell? P.S dont ship it into Canada. I use (crossborderpickups.com) Many other companies thar do the same. I save huge on import duties. I paid $60 cad total for 4X wheels into canada. I also saved bigtime as the us company shipped free within us. |

confusing message from seller
Quote:
(Thanks for your prompt reply. We do not have this model available for confirmation in Taiwan. However, according to our experience, no Yaris has reported installation problems in many countries so far. Moreover, it is not a cost-effective thing for automakers to modify the brake structure of the same series of cars at will. Sending 20 kg to the State by the TNT Express during this virus outbreak is US$180. Our best offer is a 20% off discount plus shipping. Total = (580 x 80%) + 180 = US$644 for all) |

I am interested in how the valving is done so that the brakes aren't too strong in the rear. I'd expect that with calipers vs the tiny wheel cylinders, there'd be some changes in forces. Also, like with the big brake swaps, would we expect a mushier pedal? The guys that did the upgraded fronts from Yaris to xD or Corolla suggested that a larger diameter master cylinder might be needed.

Fitment & ship
info@unique-power.com.tw
The shipment quote was to an americam address btw the way for me. Niagara falls new york. The ship is def reasonable.. Too bad no 100% confirmation that it will work 2007 3 dr. Perhaps some others will chime in. Surprised actually that others have not commented yet? It def looks to be well built. Somewhere in the comments manufacturer mentioned no need for master cylinder upgrade, and it balances itself out properly. |
