My 1zz 05 echo

So here guys, ive been hanging around a bit, reading and gathering info here and there. Im from Quebec Canada and here we have our own forum but dying quickly. Figured id post here to show my project as it grows.

It started with my first 05 toyota echo 1,5 when my transmission broke. When i drained the oil i found parts of gears and i had no itented to keep it 1,5 so i bought a corolla 98 as donor car for my swap.

I swapped in the 1,8 non vvti 1zzfe into my shell, which was rusted and kinda not taken care of by the previous owner. I didnt mind using a grinder and making room for the bigger engine.

I used parts from many different cars to make the swap possible. Now ive scrapped that car cuz of the rust probleme. Ive bought a second echo to reinstall everything in a cleaner shell.

Heres the part list:

1zz corolla98
Corolla shift cables+shifter assembly
Custom wiring
Civic ek radiator+overflow tank
Forrester single width fan
38" serptine belt for power steering delete (both cars are manual rack)
Koni yellow on apex springs
Ebay water temp gauge

So for the cleaner version, i bought a c60 6speed out of a vibe gt, installed it with a LuK clutch and flywheel.I installed a corolla 2005 XRS shifter assembly and shifter cables.

The red echo i bought came with impreza rs seats, ill be installing my recaro dc2 in the driver side, passenger will stay impreza because my gf likes it better.

Bought some work emotions crkai wrapped in Yokohama s drives. Also bought jdm tail lights, cusco strut bar, and brand new motor mounts for the new build.

As for the moment itll stay n/a, but i plan to go turbo eventually. Id also like to get a cage, but i got a baby on the way and i might want to build it around the backseat/baby seat space.. That'll be challenging.

The car at the moment is multi-colored but i also plan to repaint it eventually.. Swap is more important though, gotta get it driving before anything else.

It used stock axles with the c59 5 speed trans, dont know if itll be the same with the 6speed. My guess is yes, we'll have to see.

Thats pretty much it for now, ill update as it goes. Feel free to ask any questions and ill do my best to answer them!

Yup and Yup sadly, you need to trim quite a bit where the strap and pulleys are and also a bit where the trans mount.

I had to trim to fit the c59, but the c60 being slightly larger i might need to shave off a bit more.

I removed the power steering pump off the 1zz to make more space, and also my echo doesnt have a p/s rack. The 1zz had no a/c so even more room, and less to cut away.

The runners interfere with the upper rad support. If i had a plastic IM or a 2zz manifold it probably would not.

1nz out of the red car is finally sold, i still have all the wiring and the ecu, rear trans mount changed, shift cables and shifter out of the 05 xrs are installed, the engine mount passenger side is done. It needs to be installed in the car, and i need to test fit the engine with the c60 and get cuttin.

First cut is made, and welded back together. Dash wiring is ready to go back inside, ecu still needs to be mounted. Interior is almost ready to get reinstalled. I have 2 of the 3 engine mounts done, the 3rd one is gonna be the tricky part, but nothing i cant overcome.

Only thing im lacking to finish this quicker is time..

The drivers side and rear mount should have been direct bolt on as they're mounted to the transmission. Only on you should need to modify a bit would have been the upper passenger side one.

Cool project. Any more pictures as you progress?

Are you talking from the c59 to c60? If yes, yes the engine mounts are the same, except that the trans as a few inches wider, so the lower part of the frame rail might need some cutting.

Rear mount on the subframe is indeed as you said, the same for all the trans. Oem 1nz 5speed (forgot the trans code) vs c59 vsc60.
