Will Toyota honor "exhaust" defect (warranty) if modded?

just curious, if let's say i got aftermarket headers, catback, etc. would they still honor warranty(and if VIN shows up)

i think if you sat down and thought about it.... you'd answer your question.

if you remove the stock header, and put on an aftermarket one, do you think toyota would provide you a warranty for your aftermarket part?

also, you will void your o2 sensor warranty with aftermarket parts.

Yeah, but you can't expect dealers to replace something that you've already replaced! About the only way they'll do that is if you had to fix it prior to the recall/TSB. But you'd have to have records showing that the item that was identified in the recall/TSB had failed, not that you simply decided to swap/mod it out yourself!

Cheers! M2

it still doesn't make any sense..

step 1. remove stock exhaust manifold.
step 2. install aftermarket "header"
step 3. aftermarket header cracks/breaks/fails
step 4. you work at the dealer so you get your manifold replaced under warranty..
step 5. you now have a stock manifold............ to match the one you have stored in your garage...

NOT QUITE but thanks for playing. working for dealer simply means you need not worry about ANY aftermarket parts on car when it comes to warranty issues.....

NOT QUITE.. just try boosting your yaris, showing everyone at work, then trying to get your service director to approve a new shortblock after your grenade yours...

ain't gonna happen.

i've worked for toyota in the service dept.. seen it happen at least 4 times.

the more i read you guys, the more i feel so glad i live in Canada, or better yet, i live in the province of Quebec, more specifically Montreal.
Toyota dealers here work really hard to provide the best services you can get. Especially when we have one who is supporting/sponsoring the Quebec forum.

They would have to prove that the part you changed directly caused the problem you are experiencing. ie, you have an aftermarket exhaust muffler, and one of your o2 sensor connection is corroding. There is no link between the 2 things that can possible make the o2 sensor mal-function. Therefore, the warranty is still valid.

If i take another example...
Your headlights are not working, it turns out to be a fuse. So they will change the fuse at no cost. But, let's say you installed HIDs, then you are LESS likely to have the part changed under warranty, and you'll be very likely to pay for the labour and the part(s).
