Wife's new DD - Tucson

My wife bought her Pontiac Vibe brand new in 2005 and has driven it every day since. We've driven it up and down the east coast many times and it's still a great car with 270k miles.

With that being said she was ready for something newer and a little bigger.

We found a 2016 Hyundai Tucson with only 17k miles at a dealer 5 minutes from our house. It was a repo and was in great shape, with a few issues like the plastic wheel arches fading and a few minor scrapes inside. I used these to my advantage and was able to get the car for less than most dealers were selling the same model with 30-40k miles.

It's a base model (SE) and we went with FWD for fuel economy reasons. We live in a pretty mild climate so AWD is not really a necessity. So far she loves the car and I'm impressed with how quiet and smooth it is. Compared to the vibe and my yaris it feels pretty luxurious.

There is also tons of room in the engine bay and it looks like it will be very simple to work on.

All I can hope is that it's half as reliable as the vibe.

My grandfather in-law had one of these before he passed, it was whatever. Bare bones version with steel wheels and everything.

This one is an "SE," which is the lower end model, but it has some options at least. So far we like it. Put about 500 miles on it so far and enjoying it.

Congrats! I like the grill better in this model than the new ones. We just looked at one of these at the Hyundai dealer last weekend. I like how it is smaller than the CRV/RAV4 but much larger than the HRV/CHR. Nice job negotiating with the dealer!
