Air Intake Question

Hi guys, just got a question. Every air intake i have seen states it is for the 1.5L Yaris. But i have the 1.3L version, does anyone know if these fit and work for mine as well?

Thanks alot.

Depends, check if your engine is a 2NZ-FE or a 2SZ-FE

AFAIK *most* 1.5 (1NZ) mods (the NST crak pulley comes to mind) would fit the 2NZ as they are almost the same, just the bore and stroke of the pistons is different.

Or, best yet, take a couple pictures of your engine bay and post it here so we can take a better look at the intake configuration!

You are good to go!

Just pick the US Yaris Intake of your selection and it should fit with out a problem!

I recently installed a Weapon r dragon intake on a friends Yaris with the 1.3 engine just like yours and the fit was perfect.

Didn't want to start a new thread from a few weeks ago, but finally got my AFE Stage 2 Dry intake installed that i ordered from the US, and it does fit really nicely , apart from one of the small hoses needed to be clamped abit tighter as it was slightly bigger. So other people with 1.3L 2NZ-FE shouldn't have any problems. :D

Here's a pic of it installed in my car:

Engine number is on your id plate normally found on B pillar inside the door.
mines on the passengers side. yours looks to be on the drivers side (since your steering wheel is on the wrong side)

It is the 1.3l.

i found a tread with some other pictures from user "Katana", he comes from greece and has the same engine (1.3) with a cold air intake!

take a look at these pictures:

The engine(with CAI):

The engine(without CAI):

MAF Sensor:

and

Maybe he can tell some more how he did the cold air intake.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that engine it on a 2003 1.3L Daihatsu Sirion/Daihatsu Storia/Toyota Duet (yeah, it never made it to the US)

I think that engine is the one eTiMaGo mentioned, the 2SZ-FE... and per Wiki, the Sirion actually uses the K3-VE (another 1.3L but the one I've seen looks more like the 2SZ-FE)

Anyway, here's a drop in http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/ProductItem-2430.aspx for the "New Yaris 1.3, SCP90, 2SZ-FE, 08/05>"

And here's another: http://www.zenaracing.com/shop/produ...ts_id=10002491

Send a private to Katana to check where he got that one (I bet it comes from the 1.0L)

**************************************************
BTW, look at what I bumped into:

"Another difference is that the Avanza is only supplied - in the Philippine market at least - with a gasoline engine, a 1.3 liter K3-VE and a 1.5 liter 3SZ-VE, with the latter enjoying Toyota’s Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i)technology. Dream Wonderland also notes that the 3SZ-VE is different from the 1.5 1NZ-FE engine that powers the Toyota Vios, in that the former has a cast-iron block while the latter’s is made out of aluminum"

Interesting... and it looks like the 3SZ-VE is used in a gazillion diferent Toyota cars, including the second gen JDM bB (the first gen used to run on the 1NZ)

''If improved evolutionary fitness guarantees the survival of the species, as proposed by Darwin's theory of natural selection, then the Blitz bB will certainly be regarded as the champion of its kind. Undeveloped, the second generation bB comes equipped with either a 1.5 liter (109 hp) or a 1.3 liter (92 hp) 16-valve VVT-i four-cylinder engine, not nearly enough to impress the sophisticated urban female. Thanks to the genetic engineers at Blitz, this offspring received some desirable traits that make this specimen different from the others.

Beneath its sinister exterior is an even more menacing supercharged four-cylinder engine, which greatly improves the displacement to output efficiency by converting kinetic energy from engine rotation into thermal energy released during combustion. Simply put, some of the engine's power is converted to create a more powerful internal explosion, which, through the pistons and connecting rods, causes the crankshaft to turn more forcefully.

Toyota provided the engineers at Blitz with a solid platform for producing more power. This 2006 bB came equipped with the 1.5L, 3SZ-VE engine, a relatively new engine family produced by Daihatsu of all companies, which offers a cast-iron block in lieu of the Scion xB's aluminum block. Although heavier, the cast-iron block is better suited for forced induction since the volumetric increase following combustion is less likely to have damaging effects on the stronger cylinder walls. "
