2010 Yaris 3DR LB: Backup Lamp Illumination Distance
Anyone else agree that from the driver's seat, in the dark, in reverse, you can't see a thing (I verified the backup lights do actually light)? Has anyone found a way to improve night-time backup illumination? Thanks!

Auxillary Rear Backup Lighting
Apologies in advance, but this isn't actually intended to be a double-post. It appears I'm (so far) alone thinking that the Yaris LB needs better backip lighting (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23258), so instead, I'll re-phrase this to ask if anyone has added an auxilary backup light. If so, which one, and how easy/difficult was it to install? Thanks!

Get the TYC clear tails, I got them and now Its like 2 flashlights when I put it in reverse.

Don't tint your windows. It gets worst. The only time I know I have backup lights is when there is no other light and then it's dim.

Thanks for the info, and for cleaning up after me. :) I'm inclined to go with brighter replacement bulbs, just because it's neater/easier, but I'm not 100% sure yet. I just don't want to have it appear as though I added a laser beam to the back of the car. :)

i've seen 50w halogen replacement bulbs for reverse lights. I say the reverse light was never actually meant to light up the back, but just a warning sign for other people behind, that you are going in reverse.

I don't debate your assumption, but I guess I've just been spoiled by the cars I've had that have illuminated at least a reasonable distance behind the car. The 50W replacements sound like an easy way to go. Thanks!

side mirror...the very center is dark, but each corner of the car out to many many yards is very well lit I do not have proper night camera equipment so these shots do not do it justice, but you gotta throw down and get some of these. I think the no lens version spills more light closer to the middle bumper if you have a camera back there...or for lighting the interior |

this is as close as I can get to showing how bright they are
full flash, and the reverse lights outshine my plate flash reflection |

Nice! Now I just have to decide on lens or no lens. I have had a few close calls with the kids' basketball hoop.

I have very similar ones in blue on my motorcycle for marker always on lights, their ridiculously bright...
At night they would light up the drive way no problem, overpowering the matching blue angel eyes. I can't imagine what White ones would do lol. Im considering getting some though, backed up tonight, couldnt for crap with rain, dark. considered doing the ace ventura pet detective thing, stick my head out the window lol |

Damn Dingo you sold me with those photos.
Well I just got off the phone with Dingo's supplier and it seems that the bulb he's using won't work in the 07. If anyone comes up with the correct one for a 07 please post up which it is. Thanks. After doing a search on this site, I think the 07 HB uses 1156 as back ups. Last edited by Klink10; 12-20-2011 at 09:42 AM. |
