Hatchback, rear door trim removal

I can't find the info in the service manual. How is the rear hatch plastic attached? Where are the clips, etc. Anybody got a page number?

start at any corner and just pull off carefully. you might mess up a clip or 2 but it is what is is unless you have a that tool to take panels off.

I tired to remove the panel once, almost lost the clips to the door, had to use my fingers to fish out the clip that had fallen, let's just say my Yaris drew some blood that day. It is a real mess! Wish I knew an easier way to do it too. Will keep checking for updates!

If you plan on doing it more than once, invest in these:

That's what the pros use.

They almost seem worth it... Are they plastic? I'd be worried about scratching/chipping paint and plastic if they were metal.

Grrr, this is annoying. I just went through the entire interior trim section of the service manual again, and it is nowhere to be found.

I guess I'll just start pulling...

This should help (from the 09 service manual):

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, slide the handle plate of the back door trim board to disengage it.

Disengage the 3 claws and 9 clips and remove the back door trim board.

REMOVE BACK DOOR PANEL NO.2 PROTECTOR

(a) Disengage the claw and clip, then remove back door panel protector No. 2.
Remove any tape remaining on the back door side.

I could not find the instructions in the 2007 manual either. There's a picture of the removed rear interior panel in the Lighting manual.

Be Very careful insde the area off the back hatch ,where the recess is
for fingers to pull down hatch is a little plastic slot for a screw driver
insert screw driver and lever towards front of car this releases a plastic catch , now you are safe to remove cover by popping clips.

Just in case anyone was curious, there's a bunch of junk behind this panel.

I was thinking about somehow fiberglassing in a sub, but there are too many things in the way. Plus, if you cut metal to make it fit, the door would lose it's structural integrity. Not worth it.

Do you or anyone else have the same manual remove this panel for its alignment? There are 2 fixing Pins, just remove them and you're done?
