El Toro Autocross 3-10-13
For anyone who is interested, this weekend is Autocross Sunday, so you So Cal residents who want to test the limits of your car come out and kill some cones :). I'll be there running in STF class against Steve35 in his super quick Mazda 3 along with another Yaris driver.
This is the first event of the season at El Toro which is one of the best sites in the country, with its huge lots and very grippy concrete, always provides a great experience, so come out and have some fun dodge cones and burn some rubber Registration Info |

Video from my quickest run today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI5ua...ature=youtu.be
Sure wish the Yaris got the GP class index instead of EP.

You looked really good out there Jason, its such a shame your car is stuck with the terrible index. Hope to see you out again some time, that was a lot of fun.
Here are my bests runs Toyos I wasn't as agressive as I should have been, there was probably a bunch of time sitting on the table up for grabs. Toyos Dunlops This was a go for broke run, I pulled everything I could of and you can here me yell at myself to nut up in one corner Dunlops |

Jason: It was good to finally see that Yaris run !
namer: Thanks again for the co-drive. It was fun to run in another Yaris, and one that was more built than mine :) Let's get that data now ;) |

I'm copying the data right now, I haven't done any indepth analysis yet but there some interesting things to say the least.
I'd never have figured in a million years I could use the steering wheel to get a gearing advantage on some corners. |

Yeah, it was a bit of a shock to me too.
Redline on my car should put me at about 28-30 mph which was the case when you were driving my car, but on my shifts the car was hitting 33-34 mph which is higher than I should be seeing. Were talking about small differences but something I noticed. So what I gather is happening, on that right hand turn the torque is going to the inside wheel and when I turned left hard the torque was still going to that wheel since it was overheated and loaded up and I gained a small gear advantage in doing so. At that particular moment I was 4 mph faster than you but it also put me on a bad line in doing so, but I was worth a .7 seconds, I mean I ended wasting all those gains by the next corner but it was something to see. |

Jason: Thanks for the pics link! Your car is so flat through those turns.
Namer: another thing to consider: the shift point is in a bad spot, right before that left hand turn. I was trying to shift early to be better prepared for the turn. You might have been redlining it, so during your shift the car's momentum carried a bit more speed? |
