TRD Turbo ECHo Hatch - Yaris TS

Just went to the dealer this morning to pick up some parts and I ran into this beautiful black TRD Turbo Yaris TS. I had a camera on my car so I snapped a few pics to share.

According to the salesman, the TRD turbo was installed by them a few years back and just now, the owner traded in for a new Yar. Just the TRD kit installed by the dealer was like $4K
Is making 150Hp... with its light curbweight... this thing has to be fast.

150 hp? You're talking upper 15-16 quarters. Fast? Don't know about that.

Eh, with this vehicle's light weight and gearing, I would lean more towards low 14's if that is 150 wheel horsies. For comparison's sake- 99-00 Honda Civic Si's (26XX lbs, 140-ish whp and 105-ish tq) run low to mid-15's with a good driver.

Still not fast, though.

I don't know where you guys get these quarter mile numbers, but there is no way a 2300 pound car with 150 horse runs a high 15 unless the driver is manualtarded.

Argue away.

Vic-2NZFE, do you know the curb weight? it should be the same as your cars...
Also this car came with shorter gear ratios than the standar Echo/yaris.

When i said is got to be fast... I mean YARIS fast... not Ferrari fast... You know what I mean.

My cousin has an 800WHP Supra.... that is some other kind of fast...

The Toyota Vios Turbo (made by TRD Thailand) boosts the 1NZ-FE to 143HP, and turns a 15.9s 1/4 mile. I can't see how an extra 7HP will get you below 15s, especially seeing as the Vios is 50KG lighter than an equivelant badge Yaris..

mmm, I don't see that Vios being lighter than the Turbo Vitz... but anyway I didn't post the pics to debate about 1/4 mile times.

Is just one nice tiny car

Well, the Vios curb weight is 960-1020KG (depending on badge), you do the math :)

Nice little car. Arguing about the numbers is a bit pointless, the only way to know for sure would be to take the car to a strip and run it a few time.

I was comparing it to the MR-2. We've got ZPI on here saying that the 180 whp will be pretty quick. I'm just not that excited about 150. The other thing is, you guys are talking about a gear set that will only take this thing to 115 or 120 mph...and then comparing this thing against other vehicles that have wider sets. Just because you have a close shift doesn't mean you'll be faster...it DOES mean you'll be shifting more.

I do agree...take it to a strip! That would be fun.
