Finished my final drive gear ration research... I'll probably start a new thread when I have all the parts and #'s handy.

The Scion Xa/Xb uses the same C50 trans as our Yaris NCP91. The older Echo had a C150 trans which uses a slightly different bolt pattern, but internals are also very similar (if not same). Some people have also fitted the C60 and C160 tranmissions from Levin AE111 and Matrix Xrs, which are 6-speed trannies.

The only difference between Scion and Yaris trans is the final drive. Xa/Xb has 4.315 stock and Yaris has 3.722 stock. This means that we should be able to purchase the Scion ring gear and pinion gears (~$450) and swap them into our trans. Alternatively we can swap complete trannies with a Scion owner who is looking for better MPG or lower revs during cruise. I posted on Scionlife to see if anyones interested in swapping.

Also, TRD competition transmission gear set changes the ratios, theres two to choose from

Part number : 33030-EP702

Gear / Ratio C150 5MT
1st 2.786:1
2nd 2.059:1
3rd 1.600:1
4th 1.273:1
5th 1.042:1

Part number : 33030-EP752
Gear / Ratio C150 5MT
1st 3.200:1
2nd 2.359:1
3rd 1.850:1
4th 1.458:1
5th 1.167:1

sweet... it should be easy to find an xB tranny being there are as many as there are around.

i had two Rx-7's, bought the first out of high school and the second in the winter after that. First was a black 91 Na, it had a bad motor but i paid $300 for the car! i suck about a grand in it and rebuilt the motor myself. it ran well for about 6 months and then blew up. next i bought a wrecked TII and tried to transplant it into the '91, but the TII was a series 4 and the '91 was a series 5 (same body style though) so i was screwed. sold everything, parted both cars out, and bought my 240 in the spring. had that car 5 years, but i missed my Rx7's.

what was the problem? if you had a wrecked TII you would've had the complete wiring harness/longblock, you could've just swapped it in?

i miss my rx-7 too, its sitting here lookin like a rally car without an engine in it

i wish I had a s5, they're so incredibly sexy

the chassis harness from the S5 doesnt match up to the S4 ecu. the ecu gets both the chassis and engine harness, so you need both S4 or S5 harnesses. and swapping the chassis harness to was a very tall order. i swapped both, but it never could get running right. so i parted both cars out and actually made money, so then i bought the 240. i really liked that car, its the car i learned everything on.

the changes from S4 -> S5 are very subtle but just enough to make the car ok to so hot.

are you looking for one? cant really trust em, because if they have low compression or is blown then you have to deal with shipping it back
